Fairtrade Fortnight

It's Fairtrade Fortnight meaning that chocolate in school is an essential part of the curriculum.

Secondary, primary, and nursery pupils will be sampling different Fairtrade products over the course of the next two weeks. We have shopped local, and we have also bought from supermarkets. We wanted to show the wide range of products on sale throughout Westray and Orkney. Some photos are below, and more will be uploaded as we go through Fairtrade Fortnight.

(All allergies, and dietary requirements will be taken into consideration.)

Orkney Matters Consultation

2/17/2022

Pupils in Primary and Secondary at Westray Junior High have been participating in the Orkney Matters Consultation. We spoke to pupils about what is important to them just now, and what they think will be important in the future. Questions asked included:
What do you care about?
What things are important to you; in Orkney, and the Wider World?
What things do you think could be better?
Pupils were then asked to create a piece of artwork representing what is important to them. The artwork created by our pupils is very impressive, and has been sent to the Pier Arts Centre.
Secondary pupils created the following:
Lego creations to represent the ferries and transport being important.
Collages were made of people's faces cut out from the Orcadian to represent people being important.
Posters focusing on mental health and mental health conditions.
Primary Pupils created a beautiful map of Westray, and then drew pictures to represent what is important to them.
